My advice for getting into the industry is being as friendly as possible. Going to film festivals and events is a great way to network too. I think it’s about getting on as many projects as possible, big or small.
— Liv Kininmonth

What is your job role?

My job role differs, but I’m currently doing some gaffering, sparking and a bit of producing.

How long have you worked in TV/film?

I’ve worked in the industry for about 2 years now. This year has been the most I’ve worked in the industry in my selected roles (and my favourite shoots)

What struggles have you encountered along the way?

I’ve found that I’m not taken as seriously on set. It’s almost as if I’m not trusted or respected enough to do a task by myself. Particularly in lighting roles, there aren’t many Woman in these roles, so I think it takes men by surprise on set. Sometimes they treat me equally, but a lot of the time it’s almost as if they think I don’t know what I’m doing.

What is your dream project/job?

I aspire to be gaffering on bigger shoots, maybe long form projects. I’d also like to produce a feature film.

What advice would you give to young women (and men) to get into TV/film?

My advice for getting into the industry is being as friendly as possible. Going to film festivals and events is a great way to network too. I think it’s about getting on as many projects as possible, big or small.
